Crossroads Consulting, LLC established in 2006, is an engineering consulting firm owned and operated by Heather and Brian Moyer. In 2017 we launched XRDS Systems to focus on the production, sales, and servicing of products designed and developed by Crossroads and our collaborators.

Our expertise in chemical, mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineering, combined with diverse research and operational experience, enables Crossroads to provide a full suite of technical and management consulting services as well as focus on new product development initiatives.
Heather Moyer – Managing Director
With more than two decades of applied research and development experience, I strive to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement. My expertise and experience has primarily focused on developing and implementing solutions for sustainable operations and evaluating emerging technologies for manufacturing and industrial applications. My process engineering background and extensive project management experience provides a solid basis for improving efficiency, enhancing capability and performance, and addressing lifecycle considerations.
I have a BS in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, with a minor in Engineering Design. I also earned an Executive MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Brian Moyer, PhD – Technical Director
As an entrepreneur, engineer, and educator, I have worked over the past two decades to find new and innovative ways to apply my core competencies to initiatives focused on automation, prototyping, and human movement characterization. In addition to consulting, I am actively involved in numerous entrepreneurial initiatives focused on the maker movement and promoting product-based commercial ventures. I am also training future engineers as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Pitt-Johnstown with a second appointment in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
I earned my PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 where I contributed to an analytical model of the human body, which is used to generate kinematic and kinetic (inverse dynamics) analysis results and has been applied extensively in slip-and-fall research. I also earned an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Pitt and a BS in Mechanical Engineering (with a minor in Bioengineering) from Carnegie Mellon University. I have also obtained certifications as a LabVIEW Associate Developer and instructor.
Alex Reasinger – Electro-Mechanical Engineer
With a dual degree in electrical and mechanical engineering, I am focused on new product development and system integration initiatives. My hands-on experience and knowledge gained in the manufacturing and power sectors extends to my personal interests of restoring vintage motorcycles and antique engines, wood working, and metalworking. I am also actively involved in the regional hacker/maker community.
I have a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology and a BS in Mechanical Engineer Technology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I am also a certified LabVIEW Associate Developer.
